This 3rd conference follows the earlier conferences in Heidelberg (DE) in 2003 and Pafos (CY) in 2005 and builds on new developments and opportunities in the programme.

As the Grundtvig programme now offers a far wider range of possibilities, the time is now ripe to take stock of these new developments and to link them to the emerging policy agenda for professional development of adult education staff. Furthermore, reflection needs to take place on the shape which this individual mobility action should take in the future, beyond the end of the present programme phase up to 2013.

Therefore the Grundtvig PDA conference wants to bring together a wide range of relevant players in the field of adult education: traditional/structured in-service course providers, non formal training activities providers, GRU beneficiaries of IST or non formal training grants, experts, representatives of the European Commission and the National Agencies... for presentations, discussions and workshops in order to:

• develop strategies to increase and enlarge training opportunities within Grundtvig
• help improve the quality of provision and the long-term impact of adult educators' participation in European training activities
• to identify means of further stimulating demand for undertaking in-service training in another European country via Grundtvig and overcoming the obstacles to participation
• to develop strategies to strengthen the link between in-service training within Grundtvig and the policy priorities developed at national and European level for the professional development of adult education staff.

The conference venue is the Radisson Hotel in Hasselt, a small provincial town in Limburg, in the east of Flanders (Belgium).
